By chance, I uploaded a video to Facebook of a somewhat special fly-casting moment, recorded with the GoPro that I sometimes wear on my cap. A special cast—one of those we all have, the kind we later recount with excitement during those storytelling sessions anglers love so much. Memories last forever!
It’s very different from what I usually do: it’s not professional, not polished, not aesthetic, and not particularly deep. It’s simply that—a fisherman and a camera. It has no greater ambitions, and it never will. Precisely because of that, the success it’s had comes from the same place: it’s pure, raw, and authentic.
And for that very reason, I’ve decided to make use of my YouTube channel and start a series titled FLYFISHING POVS, in which I’ll be uploading videos following the same approach—fly-casting moments from a first-person perspective. During the COVID quarantine I won’t be able to go out and film for the time being, but I have a few casts saved in the archives that will surely bring us some excitement in these moments when we really need it.
